Our vision
That every person would come into a life – transforming relationship with the person of Jesus.

Our Mission
It is our mission to be obedient to Jesus and his commands. We will send, go, equip, support and protect our brothers and sisters in Christ. We accomplish this great commission in reaching the lost by providing for the spiritual and physical needs of the least of these, the orphans and fatherless, the hungry, the extreme poor, and the oppressed.

What is a missionary? A person God has called to set aside personal ambitions in order to go and be a witness of the Gospel.

Here I am, send me. Isaiah 6:8

Missionaries do more than evangelism; they make disciple makers of Christ. We support missionaries that are doing this all across the globe.

We believe there is power given and heart transformations that occur from experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit while going on short term mission trips. We invite every member of the Body of Christ to go and see the power that happens in His midst.

We support our full time missionaries in the field, we get Bibles in the local language to the lost in their areas, we provide technology to equip digital bibles via cell phones where it is too dangerous to hand out Bibles, we have Bible translators helping get God’s Word to every language and people group.

Support and Protect
I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Matthew 25:40

Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless. Isaiah 1:17

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress… James 1:27

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace well, keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:15-17

We strive to accomplish these commands by coming along our partners, financially, which have been doing this with at least 85% of their funds going to the need itself, to provide for both the physical and spiritual needs of the least of these locally and around the world.

Why missions?
At the very core of the Christian faith is the reality of mission- the triune God is one of sending. God the Father sent the Son into the world to spread the Gospel message. The Son then sent the Spirit into the world to empower all believers to carry out His ministry. Today the Church, the people of God, is to continue in spreading the message of the Gospel throughout the world.

Sanibel Community Church’s Missions Ministry’s highest motivation and all-encompassing purpose is to glorify God through partnering with already established ministries both locally and globally for the spreading of the Gospel. Our emphasis is both to evangelize the lost and to help empower the local or indigenous church for ministry.

SCC Missions strives to increase the congregation’s knowledge and passion for both local and global missions through sharing testimonies and information about our already existing ministries and mission partners and recruiting congregants to the local mission field and short-term cross-cultural mission trips. We are continually trying to increase the number of SCC members participating in the mission teams as well as the effectiveness of the already established ministry.

Structure of the Ministry
Sanibel Community Church is committed to both local and world-wide missions including supporting benevolence ministries, partnering with ministries in cross-cultural settings, supporting missionaries in the field, and sending short-term missionaries from the local body. While the ministry is made up of local and world- we see ourselves as one ministry under the leadership of Sanibel Community Church and ultimately Jesus Christ. Mission Pastor. Our team meets once a month to discuss finances, events, and other arising needs.

SCC Local Missions
Our Local Missions is primarily focused on being the hands and feet of Jesus by caring for specific needs in Lee County. We are in close relationship with many local ministries through financial and volunteer support. Although there are unending possibilities of need, we choose to emphasize ministries focused on the idea of a hand up, not a hand out – specifically on: alleviating hunger, assisting women and children, orphans, the fatherless and widows, tending to the homeless, breaking substance dependence, and general benevolence.

Since we by necessity can only focus on but a few worthy organizations, we also undertake to inform and educate our congregation and community and encourage their individual contribution of time and resources not only to those agencies SCC supports, but also to others that God brings to their attention. Each supported organization should respect Sanibel Community Church’s Visions Statement and Distinctives. For a complete list and description of these organizations please contact the Missions Pastor.

SCC World Missions
Our World Missions has a passion for seeing the spread of the Gospel all over the globe. By partnering with existing ministries, supporting SCC member missionaries, and sending congregants on short-term trips, we support global ministries with a strong emphasis on evangelism to the lost, making disciples, and raising the next generation. Our relationships are strongest with cross-cultural organizations that emphasize training the nationals to carry out this emphasis in their target culture. Each supported ministry or missionary should agree with Sanibel Community Church’s Vision Statement and Distinctives.  For a complete list and description of these organizations, individuals, and opportunities please contact the Missions Pastor.
