A Walk Thru Bethlehem

Evenings ~ December 2nd, 3rd, & 4th

The Sanctuary of Sanibel Community Church “‘Tis the Season!”  The season usually filled with hustle and bustle and not enough thought about  WHO Christmas is really all about. Take time in this Holiday Season to step out of the traffic of this busy life and step back into time to the streets of Bethlehem the evening Christ was born. Go back over 2,000 years and look at Christmas through the eyes of the Israelites who were longing for a Savior, longing for relief from oppression, desiring a King Who’s Kingdom would come fully on earth as it is in heaven. The “stage” will be set, the actors cued  and for about 45 minutes the night in Bethlehem that Jesus Christ was born will come alive again in history. The line to get in may be long at times, but most feel it is special and worth the wait. We welcome you to bring your family, neighbors and friends to find Christ – the newborn King – lying in a manger! Come experience a brief “Walk through Bethlehem”!

Luminary

December 3rd ~ 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

Luminary night at SCC is no ordinary spectacle, with the illumination of all of the incredible lights and the Praise and Worship Music. There will be Choirs singing, a Praise Team leading, Handbells ringing, a petting zoo, Youth and Children’s presentations, and wonderful cookies and other treats. Also, Kids and Youth areas will feature snow cones, evangelism face painting, ornament creation and the story of Jesus’ birth. Our Sanctuary will be converted into A Walk Through Bethlehem, a living theatrical experience with tours of shops which might have been found in Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth. All this makes Luminary very special as we celebrate Immanuel – God coming into the world through Christ, the Light of the world! The celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. with the Tree Lighting and all singing “Joy to the World, the Lord is come!” Invite your family and friends to this extraordinary evening. The Children’s Tent is the place to be on Friday December 3! Your children will enjoy making a fun Christmas Craft. Look for us in the tent with the Christmas lights.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Under the Stars

Friday, December 24 ~ 5:00 & 7:00 p.m.

Traditional Services ~ 9:00 & 11:00 p.m.

Join neighbors and friends as we gather at the stable to celebrate the Savior's birth on Christmas Eve, December 24.  At 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., on the campus of Sanibel Community Church, there will be a live nativity presentation, contemporary Christmas songs of praise, concluding with a beautiful candle lighting service all under the glorious star-filled Sanibel skies.

At 9:00 and 11:00 p.m., traditional Christmas Eve services will be conducted in the historic Sanibel Community Church chapel.  The Chancel Choir will perform a powerful song of worship, a Christmas message will be proclaimed, and again the lighted candles will signify the true light of Jesus that has come into our world.  The 11:00 p.m. service wil conclude with Communion.

At each of the Christmas Eve services a special offering will be received for the planting of a new church in Ecuador.

Dr. Daryl Donovan serves as Senior Pastor of Sanibel Community Church.  For more information call 472-2684.  In case of inclement weather, the 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. services will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall.
