MaturING Disciples of Jesus
The core ministry of every local church should be making disciples of Jesus from all nations through the proclamation of the gospel message. But it’s not enough to win people as new disciples. Jesus also calls us to build one another up to maturity in knowledge, love and obedience. Christians should be growing up to look more and more like Jesus.
The local church is the God-designed context where disciple making and maturing takes place. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus’ disciples gather together into churches where they commit to building one another up through the Word. Churches must be healthy to do this well. Healthy churches are marked by a clear grasp of the gospel, faithful Bible teaching, a community growing in love and holiness and service to one another by the power of the Holy Spirit, an intentional practice of membership marked by baptism and communion, a biblical leadership structure consisting of elders and deacons, and a bold, loving proclamation of the gospel to the World
We not only want to see more maturing disciples and more healthy churches. We aim to grow disciples who make disciples and churches that plant churches.
God is the ultimate answer to the question “Why?” All things are from God and exist for his glory. The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy him forever. We aim to glorify God in all that we do and in how we do it.
For the Good of the World
Mature disciples and healthy churches that glorify God bring a blessing to the world. The greatest blessing we bring is the gospel message of salvation through faith in Jesus who died and rose. We also bless the world by loving our neighbors and living as salt and light in our society.
